I know some of y’all remember this album, but HOLY COW I just absolutely dated myself, didn’t I? The title of that Quiet Riot song would just NOT leave me alone this morning and I can’t help but think it was an appropriate title for a blog – with one minor tweak of course, haha! Do you remember? The main chorus went,
Ma Mama Weer All Crazee Now!
For a fun little #ThrowbackThursday reference, here’s a link to the YouTube video if you want to watch it:
That there’s a little something to watch while you’re homebound, especially if you’re an eighties hair band freak like me. Speaking of hair and hairbands, oh LAWDY do I miss Dial MTV (don’t think I wasn’t parked in front of my television at 4:30PM after school; homework could wait) about now and Adam Curry’s glorious HAIR:

Yes, I’m “MTV played actual videos” years old. Hold up…is MTV even around anymore? Anyway, it’s hard to believe that Mama Weer All Crazy Now was released, what, almost FORTY YEARS AGO? That song came out in NINETEEN EIGHTY-FOUR. Yes, like the title of the book by George Orwell that we all had to read in high school. And Quiet Riot actually covered that song from a band called Slade in 1972. There’s a little bit of musical trivia for you. Matter of fact, here’s a WIKI link about the Slade release in case you’re curious:

Hmmph. Only a tiny mention of Quiet Riot waaay down at the bottom of the page.

Anyway, as I sit here writing another blog to keep my own self from going stir crazy…well, crazIER, I just wanted to thank everyone who has read my blog so far. (Thanks Ma and Matthew. Y’all the real MVP.) I kid, I kid. I know I have readers out there and thank you so much for taking time out of your day to read my stuff. It is so hard out here on a freelance writer. I keep thinking (hoping) that there will be ONE blog that will break me out and it’ll go viral. Then I’ll get PAID to write and I’ll just…

Or is that just a pipe dream? Well, I quit smoking weed three years ago (speaking of pipe dreams), so that said, I mean to make this work somehow. It can be discouraging to a new blogger to get readership, but I’m sure going to try! I guess I just have to remember how long it took me to get followers on Twitter. I mean, I have over 13K NOW, but look at how long it took me to get there? Over six years. I started in August of 2014. I know it’s going to take a long time to build readership. But just like League of Dreams, I know if I write it, the readers will come. At least I hope so.

So anyhow, I hope you’ve enjoyed my little story here, where as you can see I’m practicing with adding pictures, gifs and video. Since I do have a lot of free time now that we’re home on hashtag quarantine, I figured what the hell – let me get on here and publish, publish, publish. Ergo, I’ll be writing and publishing more often. I realized I didn’t have to hold myself to once a week; so you’ll be hearing a lot more from my little corner of the world.
At any rate, thanks for reading, and do please subscribe, like, retweet, share on all your platforms and tell your friends. Stay safe, stay well, and stay home, and I’ll see you (virtually) soon! 🙂
As always,
Meredith Silverman
